Drunk Busters

The Grandview Police Department has purchased Drunk Buster goggles for presentations. The police department has used the drunk goggles at National Night Out and other events.

The drunk goggles simulate what it looks like to be impaired. Typically in a presentation officers will set up an obstacle course and let adults and children maneuver through the course. Officers will then place the goggles on the person and have them attempt to maneuver through the course again. People are always surprised at how badly they perform with the goggles on. Officers will then ask the person to perform some of the standardized field sobriety tests with the goggles on. Again people are often surprised at how badly they perform in the tests.

This program shows people how dangerous it can be to drive while impaired. Our hope is this will be a deterrent for people to drink and drive.
